"When I’m ready to make a photograph, I think I quite obviously see in my minds eye something that is not literally there in the true meaning of the word. I’m interested in something which is built up from within, rather than just extracted from without." Ansel Adams
My courses in Creative Photography are no longer offered through St. Lawrence College, Kingston. Some courses, along with individual tutorials, may be offered at my home, upon request. A first level course focuses on getting to know and work with your SLR (or advanced hybrid) camera; subsequent courses concentrate on becoming aware of your own responses to your world and learning to use the camera as your tool to creatively express what you see and feel. In other words, each student’s perspective is unique and valuable, and my job is to help each one to use the photographic tools appropriately to best express their vision.
Our sessions are always held in a context of safe exploration and sharing of work, creating a community of learning and friendship. The students provide me with inspiration and delight in seeing them learn to trust and follow their own creativity.
Please contact me (see contact page) if you are interested in individual sessions (teaching/mentoring). This is the only type of teaching I currently (2021) offer.
