Discarderata--a new word which means "discarded things", as in garbage or junk—fascinating subject matter for the creative photographer. It’s all in how you compose it—as my students are used to hearing. I have frequently taken groups to photograph at our local industrial recycling dump, a site of discarded material sorted into piles, resulting in a great display of texture, form, line and colour—all inspiring to the artist’s eye.
